- Your primary category matters most. Match it to the work you want.
- Most paving companies should hide their address and set a service area.
- List every service you offer, from driveways to crack filling.
- Fresh job photos and steady reviews keep your profile strong.
Your Google Business Profile is what shows up in Google Maps when someone searches for a paving contractor nearby. For many paving companies it brings more calls than their website. Here's how to set it up right.
1. Choose the right categories
Your primary category tells Google what you do. Pick the one that matches the work you want most, like Paving contractor or Asphalt contractor. Then add secondary categories for other work you do, such as concrete contractor or parking lot services if they apply.
Search your main services in your area and look at the top three companies. Their categories are a good clue about what Google expects.
2. Set up your service area
- If customers don't come to your shop, hide your address and set a service area instead.
- Add the towns, cities or counties you actually work in.
- Keep your business name, phone and address the same everywhere online.
More detail in our service area business setup guide.
3. List every service
Add each service with a short description:
- Driveway paving
- Asphalt resurfacing
- Parking lot paving
- Sealcoating
- Crack filling
- Pothole and patch repair
- Line striping
- Milling and commercial work, if you offer it
4. Photos and posts
- Upload real photos from every job: before, during and after.
- Show your crews, trucks and equipment. It builds trust.
- Post updates regularly: recent projects, seasonal reminders and sealcoating offers.
5. Build steady reviews
- Ask every customer, right after the job, while they're happy with the result.
- Send a text with a direct link to make it easy.
- It's fine to ask them to mention what you did. Never offer anything in exchange for a review.
- Reply to every review, good or bad, politely and professionally.
See our guide to review velocity.
6. A simple weekly routine
- Add photos from this week's jobs.
- Publish one post.
- Request reviews from finished jobs and reply to new ones.
- Answer any new questions on your profile.
